[Book Review] Secrets of Divine Love: A Spiritual Journey into the Heart of Islam by A. Helwa

My introduction to the book entitle “Secret of Divine Love” is through few excerpt that I read in Instagram. Got curious to know more…therefore, I bought it. Starting with Bismillah, I read through and took my time to reflect and ponder on many of the context in Islam and about Allah (my MAKER) that I never knew. I read few lines, I reflect and I cried..just understanding that my soul, which is within me .. is something special and it is from Allah and part of Allah overwhelmed me.

This book provide me with an understanding through another beautiful lens – the love of Allah, loving myself and HIS creation.

The introduction already amazed me when I’m start reading. I can say I highlights few sentences almost in all pages and it helps me especially when I’m in hardship and sadness besides Qur’an. I became uplifting back after look at the highlight. I really love the explanation from the author and make me become open-minded in many things. Alhamdulillah.

The way A. Helwa explain certain issue really made me think. This book is worth the read. You really need to buy one to read as it would be understatement to just make a review; I may not be able to give justice how great this book is.

Alhamdulillah, A. Helwa writing has touched every inch of my hurting soul, and has helped me see life in better perspective. A. Helwa’s style of writing is easy flowing and gentle, and as we go through the chapters she addresses greater issues and deeper aspects of Islam and our relationship with Allah that we are responsible of taking care of. A much needed reminder, this piece, and a great book as a gift as well. Everything is gold. Reading it answered all my spiritual questions and it did changed my perspective. I highly recommend everyone to have a copy.

Even it takes a very long journey to end my reading but I feel worth it. Many things that have been explained inside this book make me realized how Allah is the real love that we need to be grateful the most.

I’ve cried so many tears, lingered on so many pages. It‘s one of my new most precious possessions, a book I‘ll try to come back to once in awhile to remind myself that I‘m loved & valued by no other than God Himself. I‘m struggling for the right words right now, so I just want to thank the author & God for opening my eyes again to the beauty of my religion, the value of life & to the Divine Love of The Almighty.

“In fact, it has been said that the distance between our head and our heart is approximately 18 inches, but it is arguably the longest journey we will spiritually ever take”. Secrets of Divine Love by A. Helwa

We have to take care of her so she can get better so we can get better also. Balancing is hard to do, and waht makes it easier to balance is having an awesome partner to balance it out wit! My husband and I make a great team. I’m one lucky woman.

Being a mother to an active 2 y.o has shown me a side of my personality, I never knew existed. Having my daughter, perhaps, gives me an insight into her world leading to a deeper empathy and understanding for her behaviour. This is an account of what I sensed in my interaction with my daughter in my neighbourhood.

Children are more flexible than we make them out to be.They have a natural resilience and flexibility to adapt to situations. They live in the moment without grudges, are happy and cheerful. They know within themselves that nature has excellent healing properties. It not only heals the body, but the mind and soul as well.
